Community Harvest and Hunt
The Annual Fall Gathering has been where both individuals and families are invited to learn more about culture and traditional hunting, fishing and trapping practices.
Storytelling, games, and teachings by elders are a part of this gathering, as are ceremonies such as sweat lodges - in preparation for the week-end gathering. Tobacco, water and prayer will be offered to the land. The purpose is to assert our right to the land and as stewards of the environment - it is our responsibility to maintain Mother Earth. This will teach our youth some of our responsibilities given to us by the creator. First Nation communities are encountering cultural loss and this is one way to bring youth and elders together to share knowledge. |
